Guwahati, June 17 -- The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a red alert, predicting extremely heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning and squall June 18 and 19 across Assam and Meghalaya.
The MHA has issued an orange alert for June 20 across the two states.
A statement issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said the weather pattern suggests that heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in various districts of the state for the coming two-three days which may aggravate water logging, slow vehicular movement, and increase the risk of localized landslides in vulnerable pockets.
