Meerut, Sept. 10 -- A case of corruption has emerged under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Sathla village, located in the Hastinapur block of Meerut district.

It has been revealed that wages were being withdrawn in the name of workers who died nearly eight months ago.

Faizal Khan, a resident of Sathla village, lodged a complaint with the District Magistrate on June 12, accusing the village secretary of serious irregularities in the implementation of MGNREGA.

According to the complaint, a female worker named Rachna (wife of Anand) and a male worker named Suresh (son of Rajbir), both registered MGNREGA labourers, had passed away eight months ago.
