Shillong, June 22 -- A 32-year-old mentally challenged man was beaten to death after he allegedly attacked another man with a machete at Morasuti village in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district on Saturday, police said on Sunday.



The deceased was identified as Aminul Islam, while the injured identified as Fulbahar Sheikh.



A police official said the probe is on to determine the cause of the incident, even as Sheikh is now admitted to a Guwahati-based hospital in Assam to nurse his wounds.



According to a police officer, the incident occurred at Morasuti road on Saturday evening when Islam attacked Sheikh with a machete, before an irate mob chased and assaulted the attacker to his death.
