Srinagar, Sept. 21 -- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti today accused the National Conference government of neglecting Jammu and Kashmir's fruit industry, saying it has failed to carry forward the initiatives taken by former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Mehbooba said Mufti Sayeed had recognised the fruit industry as the backbone of the region's economy, and during his short tenure, he took bold and effective measures to support this vital sector.
"He waived the toll tax, established fruit mandis across the region, introduced the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) to purchase C-grade apples, and launched the High-Density Plantation Scheme to boost productivity and quality," she said on X.
