Srinagar, Feb. 18 -- Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday alleged that weeks after the tragic death of Makhan Din, a Gujjar youth, no action has been taken, with neither a judicial inquiry nor support or compensation provided to the bereaved family.

26-year-old Makhan Din, died by suicide in Kathua district, earlier this month after alleged police torture. His death along with the killing of a truck driver Wasim Mir who shot dead in Army firing in Baramulla district after he allegedly ignored repeated warnings to stop had sparked outrage with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urging the Union government to ensure a transparent and time-bound investigation into two incidents.
