Srinagar, Sept. 17 -- As fruit-laden trucks finally rolled towards Jammu after nearly three weeks of disruptions, former J&K Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti today urged the government to create an exclusive night corridor on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway to ensure smooth passage of fruit trucks.

She said that the horticulture sector was facing massive losses due to frequent highway disruptions.

"Our farmers toil all year round, even taking loans from banks to sustain their orchards. Now, due to highway disruption, crores worth of fruit are rotting. This is a serious matter," she told reporters in Srinagar.
