Srinagar, Oct. 1 -- PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today urged the Army and civil authorities to refrain from taking over public playgrounds in Kashmir, warning that such moves could have serious repercussions for the Valley's youth.
After visiting the Tabela Ground in Chattabal and the MET Ground in Baghat Barzulla in Srinagar, Mehbooba expressed concern over reports of security forces fencing off and attempting to control spaces traditionally used by locals for sports, community gatherings, weddings, and funerals.
"This ground has for years been used by our children, our youth, and even elders. Weddings take place here, funerals take place here. These people have no other place," she told reporters.
