Srinagar, Jan. 31 -- As the Waqf Amendment Bill is all set to be tabled in the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday reached out to two key allies of BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seeking their intervention to oppose the Bill.

Mufti on Friday wrote to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who heads the Janata Dal (United ) and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National President N Chandrababu Naidu, and said the proposed Waqf amendment bill comes at a time when, for the past decade, Muslims have been systematically disenfranchised, disempowered, and marginalised politically, socially, and economically.
