Srinagar, Sept. 2 -- Former Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti today appealed to the union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to introduce a dedicated train service between Kashmir and Delhi to provide relief to fruit growers who face heavy losses due to the frequent closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Almost a week-long closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway has dealt a severe blow to Kashmir's fruit industry, with several trucks carrying apples and pears worth crores of rupees stranded en route to outside markets.
