Tura, March 14 -- Situation in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills district remained by and large peaceful, barring a few stray incidents reported from plains belt areas in the last 24 hours, an official said today.

Curfew was relaxed today from 9 am to 3 pm, allowing public movement and regular activities.

Internet on mobile phones, however, remained suspended.

However, as stringent preventive measure to restore peace and normalcy, curfew has been further extended from 6 AM of March 15 up to 6 AM of March 16, with a relaxation period from 6 AM to 6 PM on March 15, to facilitate normal activities, Vibhor Agarwall, the District Magistrate of West Garo Hills, said.
