Shillong, March 24 -- Vehicles of all categories in Meghalaya will now have to be driven within speed-limit slabs to reduce accidents and also safer roads for pedestrians.

Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Transport, Sniawbhalang Dhar said that within the next three months, all roads within the state would have different speed limits.

"I had held a meeting to chalk out plans to have the speed limit with officials from different departments who would help enforce the new rules," he said.

Dhar said that he had instructed the Meghalaya Police and other line Departments to identify roads with high incidents of accidents so that appropriate action could be taken for mitigation.
