Shillong, Feb. 11 -- Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha on Tuesday confirmed to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma that Meghalaya's proposal to host the 39th National Games in 2027 has been accepted, with the mega event scheduled for February-March of that year.
The Chief Minister, Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Shakliar Warjri and others will receive the National Games flag as next hosts at the closing ceremony of the 38th edition on Friday in Uttarakhand.
In a letter to Chief Minister Sangma, Usha said the decision to allocate the hosting rights of the 39th National Games to Meghalaya in recognition of "Meghalaya's commitment to promoting sports and its capability to host a prestigious multi-sport event of this scale."
