Shillong, Oct. 10 -- Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSPCR)today raised concerns over the surge in cases of missing children across the State.
Expressing her deep sorrow over the brutal murders of a seven-year-old boy from Nongrah in Shillong and a 13-year-old girl from Ri-Bhoi district, MSPCR Chairperson Agatha Sangma urged the police to carry out a thorough and time-bound investigation in both the cases.
"It is imperative that those responsible are identified and brought to justice without delay," she stated.
Sangma said that the Commission has already submitted a Model Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to the government for immediate implementation, to ensure quicker action in such situations.
