Shillong, Jan. 8 -- Meghalaya police has submitted a report to Justice (retired) Brojendra Prasad Katakey, appointed by the Meghalaya High Court to handle coal-related issues, over the death of two persons, allegedly in an explosion in East Jaintia Hills district.
"We have submitted its report, to Justice Katakey. We have also registered a case over the incident," Vikash Kumar, the district police chief of East Jaintia Hills, told UNI over the phone.
The coal miners were reportedly killed and many sustained grievous injuries due to an explosion at Thangsko village in East Jaintia Hills district on December 23, 2025.
