Shillong, Dec. 22 -- Meghalaya Police today recovered an abandoned gunny bag containing explosives from a roadside at Trongpleng village in South West Khasi Hills district.
Initially, police suspected the abandoned gunny bag contain IED explosives, but the bomb squads which scanned the bag confirmed four to five gelatine sticks.
"There were no sharpnels found that are typically used in an IED. This gelatine could have been meant for use in illegal fishing activities," Banraplang Jyrwa, the district police chief of South West Khasi Hills, told UNI.
