Shillong, April 28 -- Meghalaya Police on Monday arrested North Eastern Hill University Students' Union (NEHUSU) President, Sandy Sohtun for allegedly assaulting an Assistant Professor of the University.

Sohtun has been taken into police custody after an FIR was filed by the victim Alok Singh, who is an Assistant Professor of the Hindi department of NEHU, Vivek Syiem, the district police chief of East Khasi Hills, said.

In his FIR, Singh had accused the President of NEHUSU and five others accomplices for brutally assaulting him inside his office on April 24.

He further alleged that the attackers physically assaulted him and threatened to kill him by holding a scissor to his neck.
