Shillong, Aug. 20 -- Meghalaya Police today arrested five Hynniewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM) members on charges of extorting money from tourist taxi drivers.
The arrests were made following an FIR lodged by tourist taxi drivers who alleged that the five HNYM members were extorting money ranging from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 6500 from drivers for ferrying non-tribal passengers including tourists to various parts of the state, Vivekanand Singh Rathore, the district police chief of Ri-Bhoi, said.
