Shillong, Sept. 16 -- Meghalaya Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the cold-blooded murder of a four-year-old girl.
The child had mysteriously gone missing on Sunday morning and her dead body was recovered today.
The SIT, headed by Superintendent of Police (Shillong City) Herbert Kharkongor, will investigate into the case and to also zero down on the culprit(s), Vivek Syiem, the district police chief of East Khasi Hills, told reporters.
Syiem said that a murder case has been registered in connection with the incident which has sent shockwaves across Meghalaya, drawing wide condemnation as safety of children is at stake due to sudden rise in crimes.
