Shillong, May 20 -- The Meghalaya government has directed all district heads to identify and arrest Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants residing in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home, Prestone Tynsong said the government's directive was based on the Union Ministry of Home Affairs' order advising state governments and union territories to constitute district special task forces to identify these illegal migrants within 30 days.

"We (state government) have instructed district heads to take immediate action and identify and arrest Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants residing in the state," Tynsong said.
