Shillong, July 9 -- The Meghalaya government has sought financial assistance of Rs 2,270 crore from the Union Ministry of Power to modernise the power transmission infrastructure in the state.
"We have urged the Union Ministry of Power to extend financial support to the state's transmission system plan under the North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project (NERPSIP) for Meghalaya's long-term transmission plan," Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal said.
He said the transmission plan, which has been approved by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), includes 760 MVA of additional transformation capacity and 1,090 circuit km of new transmission lines.
