Tura, Aug. 29 -- Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the government accords top priority to the education sector, even as he urged all stakeholders to work with a committed effort to improve the education scenario in the State.

"Education has always been a priority sector for us, and out of the Rs 30,000 crore budget, the government allocates Rs 2,500 crore to the education sector, making it the highest budgetary allocation, for we believe that progress and development can be brought about only by education and through the development of our human resources," Sangma said, inaugurating the new school building of Mibonpara Secondary School under the Chokpot assembly constituency in South Garo Hills district.
