Shillong, March 26 -- The Meghalaya government would take a decision soon to close down the controversial Chandra Mohan Jha (CMJ) University, which was found involved in fraud and selling fake degree certificates to students from various parts of the country.
The decision to close the University was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, however some procedural matters have to be sorted out first, cabinet minister and government spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh told reporters.
Since the university is a state run university the Governor CH Vijayashankar's assent to dissolve the university is mandatory, he said.
