Shillong, Sept. 8 -- Meghalaya assembly Deputy Speaker, Timothy Dalbot Shira resigned today citing that Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma had requested him to do so, giving rise to speculation about a possible Cabinet reshuffle after the assembly session on September 12.

Speaker Thomas Ampang Sangma has accepted Shira's resignation and convened an emergency meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), which has fixed the election for the new Deputy Speaker to be held on September 12.
