Shillong, Sept. 25 -- Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home Prestone Tynsong has termed the called for a 'change of leadership' by the Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) on ethnic lines in the State as 'communal'.
"As long as we are in Meghalaya, the MLA of Meghalaya, I don't mind who is the Chief Minister. What matters is ensuring the development and interests of the state are intact," Tynsong said.
"If you say they are bringing in the Chief minister may be from West Bengal or from Bangladesh or Assam. I am also against it," he added.
The HITO, a pressure group in Meghalaya, on Sunday had said that the Chief Ministerial post should be shared between the Garo and Khasi communities mid-term.
