Shillong, March 5 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday sent out a stern message to polluting industries in Byrnihat area of Ri-Bhoi district to take corrective measures or face strong action.

"I am sending a strong and firm message to all industrial units that the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) is going to conduct surprise checks. I have given a standing order to the MSPCB to conduct surprise checks and take action," he informed the assembly.
