Shillong, March 16 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Sunday directed officials to ensure immediate relief and assistance to households affected by a hailstorm in several parts of the state.
The chief minister, who reviewed the situation arising out of the damages caused by the hailstorm, laid stress on restoring and maintaining essential utilities and asked the administration to closely monitor the situation on the ground.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed, Commissioner and Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Sanjay Goyal and Deputy Commissioners of respective districts.
