Shillong, March 4 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Tuesday launched the One Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for the consumers of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) in presence of Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal.
Sangma said that close to 45000 consumers will benefit and over Rs. 26 Crore of surcharges and penalties will be waived.
"The consumers will have to pay the principal amount of 40 percent and the remaining 60 percent in five equal instalments without interest," he said.
The Chief Minister also urged consumers to take advantage of the scheme and avail the benefits being extended by the government.
