Shillong, Sept. 29 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday unveiled the Chief Minister's Homestay Mission to empower local entrepreneurs in developing quality homestays that meet the growing demands of our vibrant tourism sector.

Speaking at the closing of the World Tourism Day celebrations in Shillong, Sangma said the initiative is a step towards enhancing hospitality infrastructure across the state while supporting local livelihoods.

"For the upcoming National Games in 2027, we have decided to not create a dedicated Games Village as practiced in other host states but we will come up with a unique model of standardised homestays," the Chief Minister announced.
