Shillong, Dec. 3 -- Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has rubbished Congress' claims that his government is leading the state into a debt trap.
Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Vincent Pala had claimed that the NPP-led government is taking Meghalaya towards financial distress by availing numerous loans that amount to almost 28 per cent of state GDP.
"I don't know, maybe the MPCC president is not able to understand the different financial numbers that I'm explaining. I have repeated this again and again," Sangma said, accusing Pala of misinterpreting World Bank, ADB and Externally Aided Project loans to misinform citizens.
