Shillong, Dec. 19 -- The Meghalaya Cabinet on Friday approved the revised pay structure foraround 23,000 SSA and Ad hoc teachers, as proposed by the state Education department.

Terming the Cabinet decision "positive Christmas news for our teachers" and a "major reform" in the education sector, the Chief Minister said, the decision is aimed at addressing long-standing concerns of these teachers.

Sangma, who also holds the Finance portfolio, said the revised pay structure for the SSA and Ad hoc teachers will be implemented from April 1, 2026.
