Shillong, Nov. 24 -- Voicing serious concern over possible influx of people into Meghalaya due to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in West Bengal and Assam, the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO) has asked the State government to strengthening its internal security.

"This influx of people will put at risk the security, public order, and legal rights of the citizens of Meghalaya," COMSO Chairman, Roy Kupar Synrem said on Monday.

He said the state government is legally empowered and duty-bound under various provisions of laws and State-specific administrative powers-to regulate entry, conduct verification, and enforce measures necessary to prevent disturbances to public order.
