Shillong, Aug. 5 -- Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, the lone Congress legislator in Meghalaya assembly, was formally inducted into the ruling National People's Party (NPP) fold today.



The former Congress minister cut off his political affiliation with the grand-old party and merged with the Conrad Sangma-led NPP on July 30.



Assembly Speaker Thomas Sangma has accepted the merger and recognised Ronnie as a member of the NPP after his application were found valid under the provisions of the 10th Schedule of the Constitution.



"There were no deals or preconditions for joining NPP. I joined because I saw a clear path to work-not just talk," Ronnie said at the induction ceremony held at the Chief Minister's bungalow.
