Shillong, Oct. 9 -- A seven-year-old boy, who went missing yesterday, was found dead in a forested area near Mawpat, Lum Rumnong here in Meghalaya today.
The boy went missing while playing near his home at Nongrah and a search operation was launched to locate him. The body of the boy was located at a distance of about 5-7 km this morning.
"It looks like a case of homicide and this warrants a Special Investigation Team to probe into the case. The post-mortem report will help determine the exact cause and nature of injuries," Vivek Syiem, the district police chief of East Khasi Hills, said.
Police suspect that the boy's body was dumped at the site where it was discovered, a secluded stretch of road surrounded by dense vegetation.
