Bengaluru, March 25 -- Weather unpredictability has exacerbated economic challenges in North Karnataka, leading to significant migration for employment. The region has suffered from recurrent droughts, with 16 drought years recorded between 2001 and 2023, resulting in acute water shortages. Consequently, many landowners and residents, due to limited opportunities and education, migrate to cities like Goa and Mumbai for construction and labour jobs. A significant boost to employment and regional prosperity is on the horizon as the Baldota Group plans to set up a Rs 54,000 crore steel plant in Koppal.
