Darbhanga, March 19 -- Mithila, a region in North Bihar and the country's leading producer of makhana, is set to witness a major transformation in cultivation practices with the introduction of a mechanised seed extraction machine.

Officials at National Research Centre for Makhana (NRCM) said on Thursday that the machine has been developed by scientists at the ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology and is aimed at addressing one of the most labour-intensive stages of makhana production-seed extraction.
