Varanasi, March 16 -- : On the auspicious occasion of Navratri in the holy city of Kashi, all shops selling meat, poultry, and fish located within the municipal corporation limits will remain completely closed.

This decision was taken during a review meeting held on Monday at the ''Varanasi Smart City'' auditorium in Sigra, presided over by mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari.

In view of the sanctity of the upcoming Chaitra Navratri and the faith of the devotees, strict enforcement of this regulation has been directed to ensure that a religious atmosphere is maintained throughout the city.
