Imphal, Aug. 26 -- The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has expressed serious concern over the growing number of suicides among children and adolescents in the State, with three cases reported in Bishnupur district within just two months.

Chairperson of the Commission, Keisam Pradipkumar today said that the Commission feels that in the absence of a comprehensive State Policy for Children backed by a structured action plan, many child rights issues will remain unaddressed.

"The Draft Manipur State Policy for Children, first circulated in 2020 and revised in March 2025, is yet to be notified by the government," he said.
