Mumbai, Nov. 21 -- A special court established under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has discharged Mumbai-based builder Firoz Hussain Shaikh, also known as Firoz Chamda or Firoz Fazal Hussain Shaikh, who had been accused of maintaining links with gangster Chhota Shakeel, a key aide of Pakistan-based underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim.

The discharge order was issued recently by Special Judge N.R. Pradhan of the MCOCA court.

The builder was represented by Advocate Mohammed Bharudin Shaikh. During the investigation, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch had claimed that Firoz maintained connections with Riyaz Bhati and Salim Fruit, the latter being the brother-in-law of Chhota Shakeel.
