New Delhi, Feb. 16 -- The Delhi Congress on Monday alleged that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Budget for 2026-27 misled the public and failed to address key civic issues.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Devender Yadav claimed that the budget increased the financial powers of the Municipal Commissioner from Rs 5 crore to Rs 50 crore, effectively reducing the role of elected representatives in decision-making.
Yadav also criticised the proposed increase in the daily sitting allowance of councilors from Rs 300 to Rs 3,000, stating that it cannot be implemented without approval from the union Home Ministry.
