Ranchi, Jan. 8 -- Severe cold wave conditions continued to prevail across Jharkhand, with a sharp dip in temperatures disrupting normal life and affecting air and rail traffic in several parts of the state.
The coldest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Khunti at 2.1 degrees Celsius, while McCluskieganj witnessed sub-zero conditions as the mercury plunged to minus 0.5 degrees Celsius.
The intense cold was further aggravated by chilly winds and dense fog during early morning and late evening hours.
In the state capital Ranchi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.6 degrees Celsius, whereas the Kanke area experienced a low of 2.7 degrees Celsius. Frost-like layers formed on fields, straw heaps, trees, plants and rooftops...
