Mumbai, July 9 -- A day after police denied permission to Maharashtra Navnirman Sena workers to carried out a protest in Mira Road town of neighbouring Thane district, the Maharashtra government today transferred Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) Police Commissioner Madhukar Pandey under whose jurisdiction the area falls, where a shopkeeper was allegedly attacked by Raj Thackery led party activists for not speaking in Marathi.

IPS officer Niket Kaushik has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of MBVV, replacing Madhukar Pandey.

Before this, Kaushik was serving as Additional Director General (ADG), Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Pandey has now been posted as ADG (Administration), Maharashtra Police. UNI AAA SS
