Lucknow, Dec. 4 -- Amidst the heated atmosphere surrounding the SIR in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal personally took the initiative on Thursday. She also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
Mayor Sushma Kharkwal claimed that 160 sanitation workers of a private company fled during the operation she conducted. It is suspected that they were Rohingya or Bangladeshi. They fled as soon as the investigation began. "We are checking Aadhaar. If they claim to be from Assam, we are also checking the NRC (National Register of Citizens)."It is alleged that all these employees were associated with a waste management company. When the company asked for their documents, they fled.
