Lucknow, Jan. 24 -- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday expressed concern over the growing political interference in religious festivals, rituals, and pilgrimages across Uttar Pradesh and other states, saying it has led to unnecessary controversies, tension, and conflicts in recent years.
In a statement on her social media platform X, Mayawati said that linking religion with politics for narrow political interests is dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. Referring to the ongoing dispute about the holy bath in Prayagraj, she described it as a recent example of mutual disrespect, allegations, and counter-allegations, which, she said, is harmful for social harmony.
