Lucknow, Dec. 25 -- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Thursday expressed concern over reports of attacks and alleged persecution of Hindu minorities in neighboring Bangladesh, saying the developments have caused widespread anxiety in India and elsewhere.

In a statement posted on X, Mayawati referred to recent incidents of communal violence in Bangladesh, including the killing of a Dalit youth, and said the anger seen on Indian streets in response was natural. She urged the government to take immediate and appropriate cognizance of the situation and play a more proactive role at all levels.
