New Delhi, Aug. 16 -- US President Donald Trump has said he may not impose 25 percent secondary tariff on India for buying Russian oil.

Ahead of the talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at Alaska yesterday, Trump said Russia had lost oil client India which was doing about 40 percent of the oil and China is doing a lot.

He said that if he imposed a secondary tariff, it would be ''devastating.''

He, however, said if he has to he will or may be he won't.

''.if I did a secondary tariff, it would be devastating.If I have to I will, may be I won't have to.,'' he said.

Trump had announced 25 percent additional Tariff against India taking the total to 50 percent.
