Kushinagar (UP), Sept. 9 -- A Maulvi accused of religious conversion has been arrested by the police from Khadda tehsil area of Kushinagar district here in eastern Uttar Pradesh, police sources said today.
Sources said Mahendra Kushwaha, a resident of Mansachapar in Hanumanganj police station area of the district, went to jail in 2015 for raping a girl.
"His wife Rabri Devi took her son Vipin Kushwaha to a madrasa in village Kohargaddi in Khadda area for exorcism by a maulana when he fell ill. After the exorcism, Vipin started visiting the madrasa and started studying there," they said.
As per sources, during this time, he became close to a girl living next to the madrasa and started living there.
