Aizawl, March 17 -- A devastating fire broke out in the early hours of Monday at Treasury Bazar, near the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, reducing 63 makeshift hawkers' stalls to ashes.
The blaze, which started at around 3 AM, engulfed shops selling vegetables, meat, agricultural tools, cosmetics, and tea, causing heavy losses to vendors.
The inferno also severely damaged a building opposite the Assembly, which housed a bakery, offices of the Peace Accord MNF Returnees Association (PAMRA), Zo Reunification Organisation (ZORO), and a restaurant.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, but Aizawl district SP Rex Zarzoliana Vanchhawng ruled out foul play for now.
