Chandigarh, March 29 -- A major fire erupted in a high-rise residential society in Sector 78, Greater Faridabad, in Haryana on Saturday evening, causing widespread panic among residents as flames leaped across multiple floors.

However, there were no reports of casualties or injuries.

The blaze originated on the 12th floor of a tower and quickly escalated, reaching as high as the 15th floor before fire tenders could bring the situation under control. Preliminary investigation suggests the fire started in the balcony of flat number 1203, where a traditional lamp (diya) placed near a Tulsi plant ignited cotton curtains due to strong winds.
