Guwahati, July 29 -- The BJP led government in Assam today started an eviction drive at Rengma forest area near Uriamghat in Assam's Golaghat district, probably the biggest one carried out in recent times, to clear over 3600 acres of forest land which had been under illegal encroachment.
The state government had deployed adequate security personnel including the Assam Police nd the Forest personnel to ensure the eviction process was completed smoothly. About 1000 bulldozers and excavators rolled down the area identified for eviction this morning while thousands of policemen and forest personnel guarded the area.
