Sultanpur (UP), Oct. 15 -- A series of powerful explosions ripped through an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in Sultanpur early this morning, leaving 12 people injured, five of them critically said.
The blast occurred around 4:50 am in Miyaganj locality under Jayasinghpur police station area, around 30 km from the district headquarters, police sources added.
The incident took place at the residence of Nasir, a known firecracker dealer, where a mini firecracker factory was reportedly operating illegally for nearly a decade. Eyewitnesses reported hearing 12 consecutive loud explosions within five minutes, which caused the roof of the house to blow off and walls to collapse.
